- National Pension 4.75% — applied to monthly pay (the pension income base). The income base is capped at ₩6,590,000 and floored at ₩410,000 (valid until June 2027; it changes every July).
- Health insurance 3.595% — half of the 7.19% premium rate.
- Long-term care insurance — the health insurance premium × (long-term care rate 0.945% ÷ health insurance rate 7.19%).
- Employment insurance 0.9% — the employee's share of the unemployment benefit portion.
Premiums are rounded down below ₩10. The National Pension income base is rounded down below ₩1,000.
Income tax is withheld using the simplified withholding table
Each month your employer withholds the amount in the matching cell of the "simplified withholding tax table for earned income" (Annex 2 of the Enforcement Decree of the Income Tax Act). The cell is found from your monthly pay (excluding non-taxable pay) and your number of dependents, including yourself. Above ₩10,000,000 a month the formula under the table is used. Local income tax is 10% of income tax.
If you have children aged 8 to 20, a credit by number of children is subtracted from the table amount: 1 child ₩20,830 · 2 children ₩45,830 · 3 children ₩79,160 (₩33,330 more for each child from the third on). If the result is negative the tax is ₩0 (Annex 2, note 3 of the Decree).

What this calculation does not include
- The year-end tax settlement — the monthly income tax is an estimate from the simplified table, and your actual tax is settled at year end. You may get a refund or owe more.
- Months when a bonus is paid in one lump, joining or leaving partway through the year, and deductions your employer sets separately (such as an employee contribution to a retirement pension).
- Applying for the 80% or 120% withholding adjustment, and the extra deductions for dependents who are elderly or disabled.
- Foreign employees — eligible foreign workers may be able to choose a flat-rate income tax method instead of this table, and whether you are covered by each insurance depends on your visa and nationality. This page uses the standard table and the standard rates for everyone. Ask your employer's payroll team which rules apply to you.
Basis: the simplified withholding tax table for earned income in Annex 2 of the Enforcement Decree of the Income Tax Act and its notes (amended 27 February 2026) from the National Law Information Center; the 2026 insurance rates announced by the National Pension Service and the Ministry of Health and Welfare; checked against the Four Social Insurance Information Center simulator (October 2026). This is an estimate and may differ from your actual payslip.
Frequently asked questions
What if my annual salary includes severance pay?
If severance pay is built into your annual salary (for example one thirteenth of it), enter only the amount that goes into your monthly pay. The calculator divides the annual salary you enter by 12 to get monthly pay.
What is non-taxable pay?
Pay that is not subject to income tax or social insurance, such as a meal allowance (up to ₩200,000 a month) or a vehicle-use allowance. It is taken out of monthly pay before tax and premiums are calculated.
Who counts as a dependent?
Yourself, your spouse, and relatives such as parents and children whose income is below a set limit. The more dependents, the lower the tax in the table. Children aged 8 to 20 are deducted once more separately.
Is what I enter saved?
No. The calculation happens only in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or stored.
I am a foreign national working in Korea. Does this apply to me?
The calculation follows the standard rules for a salaried worker in Korea. Your own result can differ: eligible foreign workers may be able to choose a flat-rate income tax method instead of the table, and whether each social insurance applies depends on your visa and nationality. Check with your employer's payroll team and treat this page as an estimate.
Why can my payslip show a different amount?
Employers may add deductions this calculator does not know about, a bonus changes the tax in the month it is paid, and the year-end settlement adjusts the tax for the whole year. The result here is the standard monthly withholding.
What is the simplified withholding table?
It is the official table that employers use to withhold income tax from monthly pay. Each cell gives the monthly tax for a range of pay and a number of dependents. The amount withheld is an advance payment, not the final tax — the final amount is decided in the year-end settlement.
