Seoul Taxi Fare Calculator — Regular, Deluxe and Jumbo Taxi Fares by Distance
Enter the distance and the time of night to compare regular, deluxe and jumbo taxi fares in Seoul at a glance.
Fare table (Seoul city notice, in effect since February 1, 2023)
| Type | Base fare | Distance fare | Late-night / peak surcharge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular taxi | Up to 1.6 km: ₩4,800 | ₩100 per 131 m | 20% / 40% |
| Deluxe taxi (Mobeom) | Up to 3 km: ₩7,000 | ₩200 per 151 m | 20% / 20% |
| Jumbo taxi | Up to 3 km: ₩7,000 | ₩200 per 151 m | 20% / 20% |
Late night runs from 10 pm to 4 am. Within it, regular taxis add 40% from 11 pm to 2 am and 20% for the rest; deluxe and jumbo taxis add 20% for the whole late-night period. The table follows the Seoul city government's taxi fare adjustment notice (the latest one as checked in October 2026). If the fares are adjusted again, this table will be updated too.
How it is calculated
- Up to the base distance you pay only the base fare: 1.6 km for regular taxis, 3 km for deluxe and jumbo taxis.
- The distance beyond that is divided by the distance unit and rounded up, and each unit adds a charge: ₩100 per 131 m for regular taxis, ₩200 per 151 m for deluxe and jumbo taxis.
- In the late-night period the surcharge rate is applied to the base fare plus the distance fare.
- The result is rounded to the nearest ₩100. Calculated this way it matches the late-night base fares published by the Seoul city government exactly (regular taxi ₩5,800 at 20% and ₩6,700 at 40%; deluxe and jumbo ₩8,400 at 20%).

Deluxe and jumbo taxis share one fare table, so they are shown in one column. The numbers in the table come from the same function as the calculator on this page.
When the real fare is higher
- Time fare — when the car is stuck in traffic or waiting at a light, the meter adds a time fare instead of a distance fare (₩100 per 30 seconds for regular taxis, ₩200 per 36 seconds for deluxe and jumbo taxis). This calculator counts distance only, so the real fare is higher in rush hour.
- Out-of-city surcharge — leaving Seoul for Gyeonggi-do and beyond can add another 20%. The calculator assumes a trip inside Seoul.
- Call fee — if you book through an app, a call fee or platform fee may be added. It differs from app to app, so it is not included.
- Tolls — if the route uses a toll road or tunnel, the passenger pays the toll.
When to use it
Use it to estimate a ride before you take it: what the fare home might be, how much you save by getting in before 11 pm, or how much more a deluxe taxi costs than a regular one. Look up the route distance in a map app, then enter that distance.
Frequently asked questions
How much cheaper is it to get in before 11 pm?
Regular taxis add 20% from 10 pm to 11 pm and 40% from 11 pm to 2 am. For the same distance, getting in before 11 pm roughly halves the surcharge. Compare "Late night" and "Peak" in the distance table above.
Do deluxe taxis have a late-night surcharge too?
Yes. Since February 1, 2023, deluxe and jumbo taxis add 20% from 10 pm to 4 am. Before that there was no surcharge.
Why does the real meter fare differ from the result?
The calculator counts the distance fare only. In practice the time fare in slow traffic, the out-of-city surcharge, a call fee and tolls can be added.
Does it work outside Seoul?
No. It uses the Seoul fare table. Other cities and provinces have different base fares and distance units.
Is the distance I enter saved?
No. The calculation happens only in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or stored.
My map app shows miles. What do I enter?
Enter kilometres. Multiply miles by 1.609 to convert (for example, 5 miles is about 8 km).
Why are the amounts in won?
Taxi fares in Korea are charged in Korean won. The page does not convert to other currencies because exchange rates change every day.
